Depending on the nature of the business, manned security can do a great job of providing a huge deterrent to criminals. The presence of guards and their ability to respond quickly in the event of an intrusion can be incredibly useful for businesses whose data needs extra protection.
At the same time, it is the job of security doors to prevent any intrusions, using anti-piggybacking technology that only allows authorised persons to enter.
With such advanced technology available to us, it’s easy to see why we might at least reduce manned security efforts.

When it comes to the question ‘do we still need manned security in this digital age?’, the answer is not so clear cut.
Depending on your overall security needs and strategy, the levels of each will vary. For some businesses, guard detail would be gratuitous.
While some workplaces simply don’t require guard detail, others store protected data or assets on-site, and need manned security should an intrusion occur.

Choosing manned security alone would be a mistake – human error and sheer circumstance often get in the way, and can allow mistakes or intruders to go undetected.

In some instances, it is unlikely that technological security will ever outweigh manned security, but in an ideal world, the two work together for the best result.
